Brazil
Brazil is the country of the future...and always will be, joke the locals. Although many a word of truth is said in jest, Brazil is now well established as a major player on the world stage and exerts ever growing cultural and economic influence.
In many cases the rise of power and status of a nation may detract from its touristic appeal, but not at all in the case of Brazil. Development has made much of the country more accessible and raised the standard of accommodation in remote areas. Brazil is so vast that despite its growth there are still seemingly endless wildness areas to explore, like the giant Pantanal swamp, the Amazon, the central savanna, the Atlantic forests and of course the urban jungle of Rio de Janeiro.
When to Travel
Brazil straddles the equator and almost the entire country lies within the tropics. The weather varies from warm to hot all year round with the only relatively cold weather being felt during the winter months (June and July) in the south of the country from Sao Paulo down to Uruguay. Even here the average winter low is around 10C.
The north east is the hottest part of the country where the mercury can reach 40C in the landlocked interior. However on the coast the ocean takes the edge of the heat and the average summer highs range from 25C to 28C. The combination of the enviable climate and thousands of miles of coastline means there is always a perfect tropical beach to be found at any time of year.
