On arrival at Buenos Aires international airport an English speaking guide will be waiting for you in the arrivals lobby at the airport to assist you with your luggage and take you to your hotel in the city. Buenos Aires is a stylish and lively city with great dining, shopping, museums and galleries. There is enough to see and to to keep you busy for a week.
A fascinating tour of the elegant turn-of-the-century districts that earned to Buenos Aires the soubriquet of the Paris of South America. From the charming cobbled alleys and colonial architecture of San Telmo along to the Plaza de Novo, dominated by the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Nación Bank, the Cathedral and original Parliament House, up the leafy Avenida de Novo towards the imposing grandeur of the Palace of Congress and the historically fascinating Recoleta Cemetery. You will discover the facts, stories and anecdotes that make up the colorful tapestry of the history of Buenos Aires.
After spending the day at leisure, your driver will take you to a typical Argentine dinner and tango show to enjoy a first-class meal, be it the traditional steak, chicken or Patagonian lamb with a mouth-watering array of salads as well as any of a number of excellent pasta dishes before settling down for a two-hour show which includes some of the best-loved songs, music and dances performed by skilled musicians and dancers.
A driver will collect you from the hotel and take you to Buenos Aires airport for your flight north to Iguazu. On arrival there will be a driver waiting for you to take you to your hotel near Puerto Iguazu.
Follow the catwalks to get as close as is possible to the thundering falls. There is an upper and lower walk. The latter gives you a great view of the majority of the rapids and falls from a front and lower point of view. The sights range from a bird’s eye view of “Garganta del Diablo” (The Devil’s Throat) together with several Brazilian rapids, to spectacular close-ups of other falls. The upper walk will raise your adrenaline level as it takes you to the edge of some waterfalls. This walk has a breathtakingly scenic cliff-top view point.
After the upper and lower circuits you take the park train to the Garganta del Diablo Waterfall where you can stroll along the new catwalk which is a winding path joining some of the small islands on the river and ending at a large view point on the edge of The Devil´s Throat Fall.
A driver will collect you from the hotel and take you to Iguazu airport for your flight to Bariloche. On arrival there will be a driver waiting for you to take you to your hotel on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
A scenic tour of Bariloche and the surrounding area. Leaving Bariloche to the west, the road winds gently along the shores of the Nahuel Huapi lake with spectacular views of the Andean mountain range in the distance and the ever-changing colours of the lake in the foreground. From Playa Bonita you can see the little island of Huemul, just before reaching the foot of the Campanario mount, which you can climb the easy way on a chairlift to the top where you can enjoy a coffee while admiring the beautiful scenery. This privileged panoramic point offers views of the Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno lakes, as well as the Trebol lagoon, the San Pedro peninsula and the Llao Llao hotel, Victoria Island and the peaks of the Otto, López, Goye and Catedral mountains as well as the spread of the city of Bariloche itself.
Isla Victoria is a jewel set in a vast sapphire blue mirror which sets off the ranges of snow-capped peaks rising above its luxurious green forests, home to the rare south pudu deer, the smallest of its kind measuring barely 40 cm in height and weighing a mere 9kg.
The trip to the island leaves Puerto Pańuelo on the Llao Llao peninsula on a boat which glides across the waters and circles the island before docking, where your guide will tell you all about the voyage of captain Juan Fernández who arrived here seeking the mythical city of the Césares, one of the many Eldorado legends which so fascinated the early explorers.
One of the most impressive points on the island is the Bella Vista panoramic view point, which can be reached in a chairlift, allowing for a privileged view of the difference between the natural forest and the exotic newcomers. Another special attraction is the set of cave paintings of Tehuelche origin near Playa del Toro. In fact here are eight points on the island where cave paintings can be seen, a tribute to the past lives of several different native tribes, as well as the ruins of a large construction complete with storage cellars near Puerto Vargas.
Spend the day in Bariloche at leisure.
A driver will collect you from the hotel and take you to Bariloche airport for your flight to Calafate in southern Patagonia. On arrival there will be a driver waiting to take you to your hotel.
Your guide will collect you and take you to the pier where you embark on a boat tour to several of the glaciers on Lago Argentino, the largest being the Upsala. The Upsala glacier owes its name to the Swedish town whose university financed the first geological study of the region. The boat trip to this natural monument to prehistoric times glides through the Iceberg Channel, el Canal de los Témpanos, past large wind-sculpted icebergs, their surfaces smooth and glowing with an unearthly blue as the light refracts from the billions of ice-crystals. The Upsala glacier is 50 km long and 10km wide. As you approach through the choppy waves of the lake, you can see a smudge in the middle of the ice wall, a medley of rocks, sand and clay dragged down by smaller glaciers feeding into the Upsala which became trapped many thousands of years ago. The boat continues into the Onelli Bay where you can disembark and walk through the forest to the Onelli Lake, a dark shimmering emerald green, fed by the Onelli, Bolados, Agassiz and Heim glaciers.
Back on the boat, the trip continues past the Spegazzini glacier which is impressive above all for its sheer height, 110m tall. On its return journey, the boat passes under the shadow of the mountain crags where there is a condor rookery, the nest of the largest bird in South America whose wing span can reach three meters.
